The Music of Ben Walker

The Story So Far

Hi folks. Welcome to the online edition of These Are The Times, the Ben Walker Newsletter. This is for anyone who is interested in my music.

I first used the name Ben Walker when making a 3-song cassette in late 1987. At this time I made a few cameo appearances at other people's gigs in Colchester, Essex.

Between 1989 and 1997, there existed an entity known as Daylight Dog. The idea was to present myself and whoever I was playing or recording with under this name when we were playing original music.

Beginning as a duo consisting of myself and Dan Simmons, Daylight Dog turned into a solo act around 1993. After a brief sojourn as a duo with Mike PG, the final permutation consisted of me on vocals, mandolin and guitar, Oli Arditti on bass and Dale Devereux-Barker on drums. Sadly, we didn't record as a trio, although Dale appears on Warm And Normal. The last DD gig was in November 1997 at The Earl Roberts, Ipswich.

In 1998, I reverted to the stage name Ben Walker and moved to The Badlands. The next three years were spent working on Bahaudin. 2002 and 2003 were spent getting the show on the road and reissuing Daylight Dog material through Peak Recordings.

In 2004 a recording of new material was produced: If You Want Love (Have Mine). An extensive live programme is underway.
