The Music of Ben Walker

If You Want Love (Have Mine)

Three songs, written and recorded in The Badlands, are now available on a new disc. Two more tracks, one co-written and recorded by Mike PG and the other an alternate version of 'If You Want Love', have been added, making a total of 22 minutes of music.

This disc is intended partly as a promotional tool, but is available by post from Peak Recordings.

Nick Aynsley plays bass on tracks 1-3. I first played with Nick when we were both at school in Hadleigh, Suffolk. Nick's current band is The Score, a three-piece Rock band playing the songs of frontman Mark Leyland.

Drummer on tracks 1-3 is Roy Whyke. I heard Roy playing with singer-songwriters Jon Strong and Ray Lyons and liked his sound.

Robert Heaton engineered and co-produced tracks 1-3. Robert has been musically active locally and internationally for many years. He currently promotes and records original acts in West Yorkshire.

Trumpeter and horn arranger (tracks 1-3) Dan Simmons has a long association with my music, dating back to the formation of Daylight Dog (originally a duo) in 1989.

I met freelance saxophonist John Gray a few years ago when I shared a bill with his sax and cello duo Tooth Fairy. This is the first time a saxophone has been played on one of my recordings.

In 2000, Mike PG and I started work on a collaborative project, which has yet to be completed. Track 4 is one of the songs we recorded. Mike is a keyboard and guitar player and in recent years has composed and arranged a great deal of music in his home studio in London. There's a lot more where this came from...

Track 5 on the disc is an alternate version of the title track made at the Ripple Project, Bradford. Invaluable assistance was provided by Kevin Wardman.
