The Music of Ben Walker

Warm And Normal

The CD project of Autumn 2003 was a reissue of an eclectic bunch of tracks called Warm And Normal.

In the early 1990s, whilst leading a transatlantic, jet-setting lifestyle, I put together a few sessions with many different musicians. I have good memories of working with all of them and am very grateful for their contributions.

The rock tracks were probably an attempt to prove that I wasn't a 'folkie'. The acoustic songs featured some great playing by East Anglian musicians. Probably my favourite parts of the record, though, are the funky arrangements of Dan Simmons.

I also found a couple of tracks which weren't used at the time but will, I hope, complement the ragbag character of the record. Some of the performances and recording qualities are perhaps not what they might be, but I think it still stands up as a whole, so check it out!
